An appreciation to the late, great, J.J.Cale
“it’s all in the groove”

Blessing for this show has been given by the J.J.Cale estate, with recognition from Christine Lakeland, Cale’s partner.

THE SHOW / BIO
Celebrating the rhythm and simplistic beauty of the great late J.J.Cale, whose catalogue of work and signature infectious melancholy influenced a generation of guitar players to “stay on that sweet groove”. The Breeze appreciation show uncover Cale’s handiwork in lending hits to guitar legends, alongside many unsung stunning album tracks across decades of original country blues from this gentle and giant songwriter.

J.J.Cale Estate support:
The Breeze began in 2015, a year or so after Cale passed away, with a desire to put some of his classic songs into a set that also gave attention to a vast catalogue of lesser known incredibly groovy and beautiful original music. The band performed initially at Edinburgh Fringe, with audience numbers showing a legacy of support for Cale’s work. The group made contact with and sent footage to the Cale Estate in California, to seek blessing for the show, and were delighted to hear a supportive response, including personal encouragement from Cale’s life and musical partner, Christine Lakeland.

Especially noted is the conscious presentation of Cale’s more delicate creations, such as ‘Sensitive Kind’ and ‘Crazy Mama’, as enjoyable as the hits often assumed to be the writing of household names like Clapton and Knopfler.“
